NOW BOOKING for 2027
Jewish life is marked by moments when families come together to honor the
past and bless the future. Baby Namings, B'nei Mitzvah, Weddings,
end of life, and other lifecycle events carry the meaning,
memory, and the presence of generations.
Family Ties offers a guided ceremony in which families pause to honor the generations that surround them. At the heart of the experience is the tallit. Through a meaningful exchange of tzitzit, family members are connected
and generations are literally "tied" together with intention and meaning.
When the tallit is worn on the bimah, raised as a chuppah, or held in moments of celebration or healing, it becomes more than a garment. It becomes a tangible expression of L’dor V’dor, woven with the threads, love and
legacy of those who surround us.

Family members come together and bring their tallit, if they have one.
Each family member exchanges one of the threads from their tallit with a thread from the honorees tallit, so that both tallit include a thread from the the other.
Family members threads are added and re-tied with intention and meaning into the honorees tallit.
A personal blessing by each family member in attendance is spoken as the knots are secured.
The result, is a tangible expression of Jewish continuity, one that carries family history and meaning.
Family Ties is honored to partner with temples seeking to enrich family engagement
and elevate the B'nei Mitzvah experience.
Family Ties was founded by Jennifer Hobaica, who created the B'nei Mitzvah
program at a temple in Encino, CA, and spent a decade guiding hundreds of
students and their families, in close partnership with clergy and educators, through one of Judaism's most meaningful milestones. Along the way, Jennifer learned the art and symbolism of tzitit tying directly from the Rabbi, and gained a deep respect for the ritual, its history and its power to connect generations.
